IO Interactive announce the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection

More On: Hitman

The Hitman series is seeing a much-needed revival with IO Interactive releasing two critically-acclaimed titles in the last few years. That said they aren't forgetting where they came from. On January 11th they will be releasing the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection, which bundles Hitman: Blood Money and Hitman: Absolution together in one package. The Hitman HD Enhanced Collection makes both games playable at 4K and at 60 fps, among "many other improvements that bring these two classic titles into 2019" that IO is still being a little vague on. The collection will run yo $59.99, which I feel is a touch steep, and will be available on PS4 and Xbox One but sadly not on PC.

I have mixed feelings about this. Blood Money is a fan favorite and probably the high water mark of the series, but Absolution's detour into linearity made a lot of longtime players pretty unhappy and the game was largely seen as a misstep when it launched back in 2012. It's also annoying that this collection is $60, digital only and only on consoles. Longtime fans could just buy the old versions on Steam and mod the daylights out of them, but I think a Steam or GOG release for the HD Collection would have made a lot of sense.
