BATTLETECH Flashpoint launching late November, cheaper in the season pass

BATTLETECH Flashpoint  pre-orders are now open on Steam, GOG.com, and Paradox Plaza. The Flashpoint expansion launches November 27 for $19.99 and is the first expansion of a newly established season pass' worth of content. Above is one of those matter-of-fact videos, narrated by Mitch Gitelman, game director of BATTLETECH.

Flashpoint focuses on the after-party of BATTLETECH's vanilla campaign. They're short stories that thread a narrative needle through multiple missions, sometimes those missions being back-to-back, no breaks. When it comes to Flashpoint, Gitelman is talking 30 hours of new content. Not bad at all, considering that there's a whole mess of hours already within the base game.

Gitelman doesn't make it sound incredibly sexy, but there are major command decisions to make in regards to these Flashpoints. They appear to go deeper than just accept/decline mission, as far as what their farther-reaching conclusions may bring to your company of mercenaries.

More mechs, and not just the heaviest assault mechs either. With a greater emphasis placed on light and medium mechs—even post-end game, that makes the speedy Crab and the armor-chopping Hatchetman solid complements to the battle computer-equipped Cyclops.

Also, there will be a little fun in the sun with the new tropical biome. The humidity is good for managing heat levels in your mech, but spore clouds are a brand new type of environmental hazard to contend with.

BATTLETECH [Gaming Nexus score 8 out of 10] is a game I haven't been able to stop playing. A couple sizable patches have brought out the spit and polish I would've liked to have seen in the beginning, but Harebrained Schemes is in it for the long haul and appear to be listening to the players' wishes where they make sense.
