Mushroom Wars 2 pops onto Switch

It is surprising how well mobile games (the good ones, at least) port over to Nintendo Switch. I have been playing Fallout Shelter on a level that I never achieved on my iPad. The game just feels right on Switch. I’m hoping that will be the case with Mushroom Wars 2.

Originally released by Zillion Whalesnon iOS in 2016, Mushroom Wars 2 has made its way onto Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and is now available on Nintendo Switch.

Mushroom Wars 2 is a sort of hero-based RTS, with players selecting one of twelve different hero characters with unique skills and leading large armies (up to 4000 troops!) into battle. There are over 100 missions to complete in single player, and the game comes ready for four player local multiplayer.

Mushroom Wars 2 is also built to make strides into the online multi-player arena. According to the official Nintendo game page: “Once you're confident in your skills, putting your mushroom army against other players is the best way to improve. Mushroom Wars 2 comes tournament-ready, with a league system and ranked matches that make for fierce competition. In addition replay feature, and spectator mode make it easy to enter the competitive scene. Just want to enjoy a friendly skirmish with your friends? Custom games let you try out new strategies with up to three friends in free-for-all or team-based matches.”

Being built for mobile initially means that matches are built to be quick and fun. My son and I enjoy strategy games and we both had Switches (Switchi?), so this might be just what the doctor ordered for us.

Mushroom Wars 2 is available now on the Nintendo Store for $19.99. It is also available on PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android and Steam.
