Fresh off the presses at CES 2017, a new gameplay trailer is out for Mass Effect: Andromeda. The video states explicitly at the end that the footage you're about to see is "Captured in engine," and that it's "Representative of game experience." Which is great to hear, because it's showing off some enormous views, some gaudy special effects, and just all-around great-looking screens, especially for gameplay and not just pre-rendered cinematics.

The gameplay looks a tad mired in menus at first, but hey, it's a role-playing game, whaddaya gonna do? The UI is looking familiar. Even the slow-ish turning radius looks familiar. I'm not sure why the player auto-leveled up a squad mate that isn't even in the scene, but it does quickly show off that you can do skill purchases on-the-fly--not just when you're on board your ship.

It bears repeating: Mass Effect: Andromeda launches March 21 of this year. That's 3/21, as in "3, 2, 1, blast off," says the onstage guy at the end. I think we can all laugh out loud to that. That's in, like, two-and-a-half months. Unbelievable. I'll take it.
