Dreadnought making its way from PC to PS4 next year

More On: Dreadnought

This is unexpected: Dreadnought is coming to PlayStation 4. I've admired the slow, lumbering, big-huge-ship team-versus combat from a distance, ever since we got our hands on it at E3 2014. And we've kept up with its development since then, interviewing one of Dreadnought's directors, Peter Holzapfel, last year. I'll have to check in with our own Chuck Husemann again, but, as Chuck put it, developer Yager may still very well have a sleeper hit on its hands.

There are more ship types than just dreadnoughts. There are smaller support ships, too, though they're all pretty big ships. There are ships that run more auxiliary roles. And I'm guessing the best 5v5 teams know how to assemble a balanced team, focus fire on specific targets, and know how to wrestle their big ol' honkin' ship into advantageous positions on the battlefield.

Dreadnought is coming "exclusively" to PS4 sometime in 2017 (although the word "exclusively" barely holds any meaning nowadays). You can already sign up for the PS4 beta here and be notified whenever they kickoff that event. The game is free-to-play on PC (see, already that "exclusively" doesn't make sense), so it's likely a similar free-to-play model will carry over onto PS4.
