Did you think America and Europe were the only territories getting a shot of nostalgia this holiday? Think again! Nintendo has just announced the Mini Famicom, a functionally similar counterpart to the NES Classic Mini that is currently selling out on Amazon. This console will also include 30 baked-in games, with no option to add more, just like the NES Classic Mini. It will be released on November 10th only in Japan; that's a day before we get our tiny NES.

Curiously the hardware matches the original Famicom in that the controllers are hard-wired into the palm-sized console; unlike the NES Classic Mini, you can't remove them and use them as Virtual Console pads on the Wii U. The Famicom is just as iconic in its native land of the rising sun as the NES is here in America (if not more so) so I'm not surprised to see Nintendo crank out a similar retro console. I am surprised that they waited this long to announce it.
