Things are mighty slow this week and that is probably a good thing. We need a little bit of a break before things kick into high gear in a couple of weeks. The Fall rush is nearly upon us as Summer is slowly drawing to an end. Before you know it we are going to be right in the midst of the hectic holiday season and there are going to be more games releasing than we know what to do with.

This week is being led by one major retail release: Metroid Prime- Federation Force. Don’t get too excited just by the name alone: this isn’t the Metroid that you are looking for. While it may carry the popular title, this is actually a spinoff in the Metroid universe. Federation Force is a cooperative FPS where up to four players can team up to explore a variety of planets. The focus here is more on the shooting mechanics than it is the exploration mechanics that the series is known for. Aside from the story mode there is also a competitive sport-esque mode called Blitz Ball that has teams of 3 facing off against each other in a form of futuristic soccer.
