It's weird when we won't see ESPN before a 2K series. In any case, Take-Two has released Major League Baseball 2K5. Let's hope this series can strive without the ESPN moniker. You can read our preview of the game here.
2K Sports Announces Major League Baseball 2K5 Now Available across North America

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 2005--2K Sports, the sports division of 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:TTWO), today announced Major League Baseball 2K5, the latest in the number one rated(1) 2K5 sports video game series, is now available at retailers across North America. Introducing a series of innovative features, Major League Baseball 2K5 is an entirely new game that promises fans of America's pastime the most authentic and exciting virtual baseball experience anywhere.

"Major League Baseball 2K5 is all new this year," said Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, developers of the 2K5 sports series. "It truly pays homage to the great game of baseball, offering consumers the most complete and realistic major league baseball video game available. From the revolutionary On Command(TM) Baserunning to all of the online capabilities, consumers will be amazed by the amount of features in the game that intensify their overall experience."

Players will experience unprecedented control with the debut of On Command(TM) Baserunning, including active picture-in-picture baserunning, and new gameplay features with Maximum Sliding(TM) and the groundbreaking Baseburner(TM) Mode. Gamers can dominate the basepaths by advancing runners into scoring position, executing hit and run tactics, and score the game-winning run with dramatic squeeze plays -- all with unparalleled control.

Major League Baseball 2K5 introduces K Zone(TM) Pitching, a new system that delivers the most realistic pitching control in a baseball video game. This new feature allows players to target their pitches precisely using a simple interactive crosshair interface. Players are challenged as pressure situations can determine how accurately and well they will throw.

Available on the PlayStation(R) 2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox(TM) videogame system from Microsoft(R), Major League Baseball 2K5 offers gamers complete online play and online leagues. The online capabilities give gamers the ability to create, manage and compete in their own customized leagues, or simply play against other online gamers in a quick one-on-one game.

The 2K series of simulated sports games are produced by Visual Concepts, a Take-Two studio.
