Apparently the folks over at the Library of Congress are seriously considering archiving digital media for reference purposes. This includes video games. With games becoming more and more a part of our culture every day, it makes sense that they should be preserved for future generations. It would, for example, be a sad day indeed if one day I tried to talk to my grandkids about Tetris and all I got were blank stares.
