Now Playing: Ghosts Into the Future

by: Randy -
More On: Battlefield 4 Call of Duty: Ghosts

The PlayStation 4 launch is one week away, and the Xbox One is two weeks away <itshappening.gif>. Until then, pick your poison when it comes to the Xbox 360PlayStation 3, or PS4 review for Call of Duty: Ghosts. Or, if your tastes run a little more indie (and you prefer Terrarian castle building and bison taming over military soap operas), then see our Indie Spotlight on King Arthur's Gold

What are you playing this weekend?

On the Gaming Nexus side of things, I'll be finishing up Sonic Lost World for the 3DS. So far it's not too terribly bad, but the controls leave something to be desired, especially when underwater. On the personal gaming side of the spectrum, I've recently started up Deus Ex: Human Revolution over on Steam. I didn't get too far in the original Deus Ex, and I haven't touched Invisible War ever since I got stuck years ago on the original Xbox when I ran out of ammo for everything. So far I'm liking Human Revolution, but I'm seeing that stealth is going to come into play quite a bit and...well, me and stealth don't normally mix.

I'm currently trying to finish all the collection missions in Grand Theft Auto V. I don't care if they're pointless. Each search leads me to a point on the map I've likely never been to before. Aside from that, I'm rocking FIFA 14 career mode with Everton. Everton is the perfect club for an American with no cultural connection to any other team to support.

I'm looking to spend some quality time with recently released Call of Duty: Ghosts and hopefully try out the new alien extinction mode with John Yan. On my review queue, I have The Sims 3: Into the Future expansion pack along with the recently released Diablo III: Book of Tyrael writings and art book.

I'm hoping that Battlefield 4's multiplayer will have a few more bugs ironed out so I can continue leveling up without fear of losing progress. Last weekend, I managed to get promoted to level 7 three times which was all kinds of frustrating. I'm swapping back and forth between the engineer and assault class and not dying nearly as often as I was last week. If I get some time, I might fire up MechWarrior Online to keep some of that muscle memory intact, but for right now the focus is strictly on BF4.

What generous! Such charitable! I handed five dollars to GOG.com, GOG handed the five dollars to the Gaming for Good charity, then GOG handed me three games I’ve wanted for awhile -- FTL: Faster Than Light, Waking Mars, and The Whispered World. I'm straight up giddy right now. Don't even know which one to fire up first. Probably FTL, since I'm feeling masochistic.

I'll be playing some Batman: Arkham Origins, and trying to (poorly) battle people online for fun and build a decent team in Pokemon Y. I'll probably also continue playing Rayman Legends with the girlfriend if time and her little sister permits.

I'm all Call of Duty’d out, so I'm retiring that game for a while in exchange for something a bit more cerebral in Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut. I've also got Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate on my Vita and the latest Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm game on my PlayStation 3 fighting with Disgaea D2 for space in the disc tray.

I am going to sit down and have me a first-person shooter weekend. Since we have a three-day weekend coming, I'll be finishing Call of Duty: Ghosts, multiplayer Ghosts, finishing Battlefield 4 campaign, and leveling up on BF4. Also, I got Hyperspin working on my media center, so I'm going to be going through a library of old arcade classics with my son whom, at the ripe old age of 10, I'm training to be the next great gamer who will beat Chuck Husemann in Unreal Tournament.
