In an interview with the folks at Wired, Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that he is stepping down from his current role at the company to work on "smaller, more personal projects".   It sounds like he's going to be working on smaller games that don't have the grind of larger AAA titles.

It's an interesting move for Miyamoto who has been the main creative force at Nintendo since the early 1980's.  He's been behind every major franchise at the company and it will be interesting to see who steps up into his legendary shoes.  It's also interesting timing as Nintendo is expected to launch the Wii U next year and this move may mean that there will be no Miyamoto games for the platform.
