Popular game video site Gametrailers just scored a deal for exclusive content from Screwattack.com.  I like Gametrailers, and I like Screwattack, but whenever a hardcore geek site gets picked up by a big company, I don't know, I feel a disturbance in the force.  I just hope Screwattack's quirky humor doesn't lose its indie appeal to comercialization.  I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

Santa Monica, Calif. The GT-ScrewAttack partnership kicks off with “The Top Ten Coolest Video Game Characters” debuting February 8, followed by the “Video game Vault” coverage of the arcade classic Qbert February 9. Finally, “The Angry Video Game Nerd,” already a favorite among gamers generating millions of video views across the Internet and is one of the most subscribed to authors on YouTube, launches his first installment on GT February 15.

“No other company in the world comes close to what GameTrailers is doing with its all-video format and quality of video programming,” said Craig Skistimas, Program Director for ScrewAttack.  “With its dedicated and loyal fan-base of gamers and unmatched commitment to providing a quality end-user experience, GT is truly the best partner for us.”

The acquisition of ScrewAttack programming further solidifies GT’s position as the premier video network for gamers.  In addition to the ScrewAttack partnership, GT is currently working with a number of partners to bring additional video content to GT.

“We are constantly in search for stand-out, third party programming about games and are dedicated to delivering the very best to our audience,” said Slusser.  “If it’s great content for gamers, it belongs on GT.”
