Xbox One fans get touched by Divinity in two days

More On: Divinity: Original Sin 2

The Xbox Game Preview program continues to reward Xbox fans with fun goodies. Starting on May 16th, players will be able to play through the first three hours of Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition for free. Players will then be able to choose to unlock the First Act of the game (approx.. 20 hours of gameplay) by pre-purchasing the game.

When the full release of the game arrives in August, players will be able to pick up their save files from this special preview edition and just keep on trucking from where they left off. It would be interesting once that happens to get some stats on what percentage of players actually remembered what was going on, and how many just start over. I know that I often throw in the towel and start a new game when DLC drops, just because I can't figure out all the complexities of my old save.  But then again, I'm sad and old.

I played the original Divinity: Original Sin (is that a palindrome?) on PlayStation 4, and I felt that the development team did a great job porting a very PC-type game over to console. The game played very smoothly, and I was able to quickly and easily command my team to accidentally set themselves on fire, over and over again. Though the original title was greatly loved by all, the sequel has received even stronger praise from all quarters, currently sitting at a 93% on Metacritic. It’s fun that Xbox owners get to take a crack at the game on console a full three months before its release.

The full release of Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition will be available physically and digitally in the Americas for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in August 2018.
