What the heck is Shattered Skies, you ask? Developer Free Reign Entertainment has a one-minute video that tries to explain that, or at least how to start playing. The short answer is that it's an open world firs-and-third-person-looter-shooter with PVE and PVP gameplay. The developers also describe Shattered Skies as DayZ meets The Division, which...ah, doesn't exactly give me warm feelings.
The good news is that the game is available on Steam now for a single purchase of $24.99, or $22.49 during the launch window discount. That's right--no microtransactions, season passes or paid expansions. All content is unlocked by playing the game after paying the price of entry. That alone grants this game some goodwill in my book.
