Quakecon 2015 gets charitable

by: Sean Colleli -
More On: QuakeCon 2015

Quakecon 2015 is celebrating 20 years of community support by partnering with several local charities. This year Quakecon will play host to five charitable organizations including the American Red Cross, Take This, Dallas Pets Alive, Extra Life and DFW Nerd Night. All will be on hand to collect donations, but each has something special planned. You can donate blood at the Red Cross booth, while Take This will set up their AFK Room for congoers to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the event.

Dallas Pets alive will have adoptable dogs at the show looking for gamers who need a canine gaming buddy in their lives, While Extra life will be accepting signups for their 2015 gaming marathon where you can play games in 24 hour stints to raise money for your local children's hospital. DFW Nerd Night meanwhile will be raising money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of North Texas. Great work across the board. I know this Quakecon's charitable events will be a success, because as I've discovered, by and large gamers are some of the most generous and welcoming individuals I've met.
