You wanna know the worst part about dying? SOMA knows

More On: Penumbra: Overture Penumbra: Black Plague Penumbra: Requiem Amnesia: The Dark Descent SOMA

Sci-fi horror is the only kind of horror I do. And SOMA, from Frictional Games (Penumbra, Amnesia), scares my little space socks off. This E3 trailer digs into the dear-diary thoughts of the main character. He misses his buddies. They were there for him during his head trauma. He's been feeling so much better lately. He's so hopeful now.

But the worst part about dying? Is having all that hope wasted.

Just off of one trailer—and especially off this gameplay video from a couple weeks ago (seriously, watch it now)—SOMA is going to ask tough questions about what it means to be human. I anticipate that our main character, whom we never directly see, is either a robot the entire time, or transitioning into one as we speak. Shudder. This is what good sci-fi is all about: Examining the human condition.

SOMA comes to PC and PlayStation 4 on September 22.

Following last week's release date announcement and gameplay video for SOMA, Frictional Games is releasing yet another trailer in advance of E3 2015.

Coming to PC and PlayStation 4 on September 22nd, SOMA is the next sci-fi horror experience from Frictional Games, creators of the genre-defining Amnesia and Penumbra series.

Something is happening in PATHOS-2. Communications have gone dark. Key personnel have gone missing or been declared dead in preceding weeks, and the machines are acting strangely, almost human.
