Mushroom Men returns with Truffle Trouble

More On: Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble

I was a huge fan of the criminally underplayed Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars on Wii back in 2009. Red Fly Studios developed an exciting new franchise and nobody seemed to care, which is a real shame because the game was a deceptively deep little adventure overflowing with charm and atmosphere. Red Fly isn't giving up, however. After completing some other projects, they're ready to bring Pax the mushroom man back for another misadventure.

In this new trailer for Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble, Pax is back at it with a more traditional puzzle-platformer. He isn't trying to save a princess, though--actually, he's running from one! The monstrous truffle princess is smitten with Pax and is chasing him through his nightmares, and Pax must solve environmental puzzles while the princess will stop at nothing to possess our fungus hero.

You can tell Red Fly has a lot of love for their original franchise. They even take some self-deprecating jabs at how poorly the original Wii title sold, which is amusing but a little sad too. Hopefully Mushroom Men will see a brighter future on Steam when Truffle Trouble launches on March 10th. I think I'll boot up my Wii U and replay Spore Wars in anticipation!

Red Fly Studio Announces Launch Date for Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble

Trouble
Long Awaited Platform Puzzler Coming Soon to PC

(Austin, TX) - February 18, 2015 -- Independent developer, Red Fly Studio, today announced the highly anticipated Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble is launching March 10th 2015 on Steam (PC). In this follow up title toMushroom Men: The Spore Wars, players must navigate a nightmarish dream world where puzzles and obstacles await their every move, all while being chased by the giant Truffle Princess.

“After some timing obstacles and the team getting a few other projects out of the way, we were thrilled to pickup development again for Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble,” said Dan Borth, CEO of Red Fly Studio. “This was always a project we cared deeply about and wanted to finish, but we needed the development time to make sure it was up to the quality and standard we wanted. Today we’re pleased to announce the game is at that point and we can’t wait for players to get their hands on the game. ”

Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble is a unique platforming game featuring Pax, the hero of Mushroom Men. Pax is trapped in a terrible nightmare and players must control Pax as he is pursued by the besotted Truffle Princess, combining classic platforming action with imaginative puzzle-solving. Players must move, stack, and use objects to create new paths to jump and clamber on, all while the Truffle Princess draws ever closer. Being in a dream, even if it is a nightmare, can have its advantages.  Pax can transform into different forms to help him negotiate the world, each with its own distinct and powerful abilities. Players can use the forms to scamper across vertical walls, turn invisible, or even fly across vast chasms, but using them at the right time is the key. Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble draws players in with its distinct gameplay, then keeps them engaged with its beautiful worlds, quirky humor, and Pax’s super-powered forms.
