Hi-Rez gives some developer insight into their newest goddess Awilix, coming to SMITE next week

More On: SMITE

Hi-Rez Studios released new information about SMITE's newest character Awilix, the Mayan Goddess of the Night, today and gave us some insight on her character design and abilities. You can read the Q&A with the devs on their developer insight page of their website.

Awilix will fill the role of an Assassin and what is interesting about her, is that she is bringing elements to the game that have never been seen before.

Probably the biggest part of her kit is her pet Panther, Suku. She can activate an ability which allows her to mount Suku and ride her around the map. This gives her the highest base movement speed of any Assassin in the game. This is going to be great for rotations and also for escapes. The downside is that her strafing speed is reduced.

The other big part of her kit is her Ultimate ability, which brings a game changing element to SMITE. She has the ability a god that is leaping or knocked up in the air towards her. There are tons of gods in the game like Odin, Neith and Bakasura who have leaps which help them escape danger. These abilities are also incredibly annoying and I am so happy that we have someone that will finally be able to shut them down.

Here is a rundown of her abilities.

  • First Strike (Passive)
Awilix's first damaging hit from out of combat deals additional damage and heals a small percentage of her missing health over the next few seconds. Additionally, all of Awilix's basic attacks have an extended melee range, but a reduced targeting cone.
  • Feather Step
Awilix flips over the head of the last enemy she hits, dealing damage as she passes over them. The damage dealt is modified based on the next attack in Awilix's basic attack progression. If the next attack is her third attack, then she also hits all targets in the area around her.
  • Summon Suku
Awilix mounts her panther Suku, gaining movement speed but decreasing strafe speed. Awilix may leap off of Suku to deal damage to all gods in the target area. Canceling this ability before leaping will not trigger it's cooldown.
  • Moonlight Charge
Awilix sends her panther forward, damaging all enemies in front of her. If hit from behind, enemies are also knocked up into the air.
  • Gravity Surge
Awilix calls upon the power of the moon, immediately pulling down to her the closet enemy in front of her that is either Leaping or Knocked Up into the air, dealing damage to them when they land. Awilix is then bathed in moonlight, gaining bonus attack speed and physical power.

Check back this weekend as a new patch is planned for the game next week and the full patch notes will be released tomorrow. Please please please nerf Ao Kuang.
