World Cyber Games Launches Three New Monthly Leagues for PC Gamers

- WCGZone opens monthly leagues for StarCraft: Brood War , Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, and FIFA Soccer 06  with ladder system

- Players compete for monthly prizes including Intel Processors, Creative Sound Cards and WCG memorabilia

SEOUL, July 12, 2006 – WCGZone.com (www.wcgzone.com), the year-round online gaming competition destination launched by the World Cyber Games in May, has opened new WCGZone competitive monthly leagues for StarCraft: Brood War, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, and FIFA Soccer 06. Anyone interested in showing off their gaming skills can participate in WCGZone monthly leagues to compete for prizes against other gamers from around the world.

WCGZone monthly leagues are operated using a ladder system in which gamers receive points according to their ‘win/loss’ record. Points are calculated based on the ELO ranking system, widely used for chess, so that gamers who defeat a higher-ranking player earn more points while gamers who defeat a lower-ranking players acquire fewer points. Monthly player rankings will be determined by aggregate points computed using the ELO system. The top three players each month are awarded with various prizes, including Intel processors, Creative Sound Card and additional WCG memorabilia.

“Although WCGZone only launched in May, it has already attracted worldwide attention from gamers and receives more than 8,000 daily visitors," said Wonsuk Oh, VP of International Cyber Marketing (ICM), the global organizer of the WCG. "WCGZone monthly leagues will offer entertainment for gamers in addition to simply playing computer games, providing them with an authentic tournament atmosphere online."

Gamers can participate in any of the WCGZone monthly leagues any time after joining WCGZone.com and installing GamOn, the program that operates WCG online matches. More detailed information about WCGZone monthly leagues can be found at www.wcgzone.com.
