Sony cuts down the OS by 70MB, gives it to the developers

What can an extra 70MB of memory net you on a PlayStation 3? Probably some extra effects or lighting. That's what Joystiq got from a developer after getting confirmation
from Sony that the OS footprint on the console was reduced from 120MB to 50MB. Hey, every little bit helps but it's kind of cool to see Sony reduce the footprint by more than 50%. We probably won't get any games touting the extra usage of memory but as a developer you have to like stories like this.
