Wargaming.net has recently announced a new patch for World of Tanks that's available today for Europe and Russia, plus it'll be available tomorrow for North America and South Korea.  The new update, patch 8.11, introduces a new combat mode called Confrontation.  This will group players using vehicles from a specific nation into teams with other players using tanks from that nation, and put them against another team that's comprised of tanks from another nation.  Since this mode is still experimental there have yet to be any balance tweaks though.

World of Tanks Gets Nation vs. Nation Combat

Confrontation debuts in Update 8.11

February 11, 2014 — Wargaming today announced the launch of Update 8.11 for World of Tanks in Europe and Russia. Players from Asia will be able to try out new game mode and battle arenas on February 12, with tank commanders from North America and South Korea getting the update on February 13.

Available for machines of all tiers and balancing weights, with the exception of Japanese and Chinese tanks, the new experimental combat mode, Confrontation, groups players with vehicles from a specific nation into a team that faces off against a comparable opposing squad with vehicles from a different nation. Introduced as an experimental new gameplay element, Confrontation is yet to undergo balance tweaks.

Along with competitive national combat, Update 8.11 enriches the game with a new European winter battle arena, Windstorm, revamped version of Ruinberg, now featuring rainfall and fires, and a reworked Himmelsdorf with winter setting.
