Great old Games gone or hacked? (Updated)

More On:
Fans of Great Old Games, the distributor of classic PC games, were in for a rude shock this weekend when they went to the site's home page which had the following message:

We have recently had to give serious thought to whether we could really keep GOG.com the way it is. We've debated on it for quite some time and, unfortunately, we've decided that GOG.com simply cannot remain in its current form.

We're very grateful for all support we've received from all of you in the past two years. Working on GOG.com was a great adventure for all of us and an unforgettable journey to the past, through the long and wonderful history of PC gaming.

This doesn't mean the idea behind GOG.com is gone forever. We're closing down the service and putting this era behind us as new challenges await.

The Twitter account for the site had a similar message which means that this is either a very coordinated hack or (more likely) the site is being closed down for some tweaking of the business model.  Hopefully the company can continue forward as it was a great way to go back and be able to play great old PC games that you couldn't find anymore.  We've got a request for comment into their PC contact and will let you know when we know more.

(Update) Chuck  - We heard back from GOG and the good news is that the site is not going away, just undergoing changes.  They promise to "share more" in the coming days.
